Apple said the following near the end of their press release:
In addition to the new iMac Pro, Apple is working on a completely redesigned, next-generation Mac Pro architected for pro customers who need the highest performance, high-throughput system in a modular, upgradeable design, as well as a new high-end pro display.
While this is nothing new, it does let the pro users know that Apple is committed to make a modular, upgradeable Mac Pro. Currently, it is not known what the Mac would look like or what the configuration options will be. Also, it is not known as to when the Mac will come. Phil Schiller, Apple marketing chief said,
We're committed to the Mac, we've got great talent on the Mac, both hardware and software, we've got great products planned for the future, and as far as our horizon line can see, the Mac is a core component of the things Apple delivers, including to our pro customers.
While most details about this device is uncertain, Apple has assured its pro users that they are working on a new Mac Pro that is upgradeable. When and how is the only questions that are not answered.
