Despite what you may have heard, you do not need to go and buy a TV/monitor to get another display for your Mac. Instead, you can use your iPad as one. This is possible because of an app called Duet. The app is created by ex-Apple engineers and works on Macs running 10.9+ and iPad/iPhones running iOS 7+. Continue reading after the break to find out more about Duet!

Having a second display is extremely helpful and can boost productivity. Using Duet will help you accomplish this, but to do this you must have the Duet app for your iPad and the Duet app for your Mac. The iPad/iPhone app is $14.99, but it is well worth the price.
Setup is easy, download the Mac app from here and install it. Then go to the App Store and get the Duet app. After they are installed, run them both and plug your iPad into your Mac. Your iPad will now connect and say, "Launching Duet". It does not take long for it to fully connect and become another display.
This app is the best app of its kind, as it can be used on older iPads as well. Not only can you use your new(er) iPad, but you can also give new life to your old one.
