After Apple's WWDC I wanted to install the tvOS 13 beta on my Apple TV and do not have a USB-C cable to connect with. So, I went looking for how to access the Apple TV without wires and found more than I was searching for. I found a way to see your Apple TV on your Mac and even listen to the audio/video playing on the TV. In this post I will show you how to do this with your own Apple TV. Do you know what else I will show you?:

Before I begin, this requires you to be running macOS High Sierra or higher and tvOS 11 or higher on fourth generation Apple TV or newer. The other requirement is that both device must be on the same network, there is no need to download Xcode or any other additional software.
After checking both your Apple TV and Mac to make sure that they are on the same network, go ahead and open up QuickTime Player.
Then in the QuickTime menu bar, click File -> New Movie Recording.

Click the small down arrow next to the red record button and in the dropdown menu select Apple TV under both the Camera and Microphone sections.
You maybe prompted to enter a code on your Mac to pair the two devices if you have not AirPlayed something from your Mac. A screen sharing permissions prompt will appear on your Apple TV display. Use your Remote to select Allow.
Now your screen is being shared in QuickTime Player, you still have to either use the Apple TV Siri Remote or the Apple TV Remote on your iPhone that is found in the iOS control center.
This has many different use cases and can get really interesting. Let me know in the comment section below how you think it would be useful to you. Say tuned for more WWDC 2019 coverage!
