The report from Jeff Lin claims that the 16-inch MacBook would feature a 3072x1920 display, up from the 2880x1800 panel that has been used in Apple's 15-inch laptops since the MacBook Pro 2012. 9To5Mac points out that since the 15-inch MacBook Pro has already been refreshed this year with newer processors and an updated keyboard design, "people are expecting the 16-inch to forge a new, separate, tier in Apple's product lineup. This suggests a price point around $3000,".
This new report coincides with Ming-Chi Kuo's claims in February describing an 16-16.5-inch MacBook Pro with an all-new design. He also stated that the 13-inch MacBook Pro would receive a spec bump. This is similar to what Lin reported, suggesting that the 13-inch MacBook Pro and the Retina MacBook Air would get a spec bump around the debut of the new 16-inch MacBook Pro.
Jeff Lin says, "We foresee that Apple will release a new product [at the] Sep'19 Apple event if there's no unexpected development issue." The fall hardware launch would align with Apple's official Fall release of macOS Catalina 10.15.
