According to analysts at investment bank UBS predict that Apple will likely launch a foldable device within the next two years. They say that the device is more likely to be an iPad rather than an iPhone and is more likely to launch in 2021 than next year. Do you know what you do not have to want for?:

This is merely speculation on the analysts part and no proven sources have yet to report that Apple is currently developing a foldable iPhone or iPad. However, this does mean that Apple is indeed not working on such a device, it just means that it is not confirmed.
Remember folding display is in its infancy as seen by the troubles of the Galaxy Fold, which saw many display issues that lead to the device being postponed for many months. Apple is known for thin and modern devices, which current folding technology is not. While Apple may be able to create a much thinner foldable device then what is out there already, it is unlikely that it will hold up to Apple's strict design standards.
Remember, Apple has filed several patients for a folding iPhone, but just because a company has a patient does not mean that are actively designing and developing a device based upon them.
