When we received word, on Friday, March 29, that AirPower has been cancelled with Apple citing the inability to "achieve [their] high standards". But, we are not 100% confident that AirPower is actually cancelled. Do you know what is not cancelled?:
A Message From Our Sponsor:
AirPower was designed to charge Apple Watch, iPhone, and AirPods all at the same time, but after the announcement of the device in 2017, there have been many rumors of the difficulties and no product has launched to date. It was suggested that there were problems with heat management, inter-device communication, and device interference.
Dan Riccio, Apple's senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, said in a statement to TechCrunch:
Dan Riccio, Apple's senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, said in a statement to TechCrunch:
After much effort, we've concluded AirPower will not achieve our high standards and we have canceled the project. We apologize to those customers who were looking forwards to this launch. We continue to believe that the future is wireless and are committed to push the wireless experience forward
The cancellation of AirPower is a shock as there has been many signs that the product is still in the works. AirPower mentions were included in the newly launched AirPods Charging Case and Apple recently secured a trademark for the AirPower name. Along with these mentions, there are ongoing rumors of a Spring launch. Also, ending work on a project that has already been announced and shown off is unprecedented in Apple's recent history. This evidence gives us reason to believe that AirPower may not actually be cancelled. We believe that if AirPower is not actually cancelled that it may be instead delayed or launching earlier than expected.
If you need a charging pad now, we found the Quezqa Wireless Charging Pad on Amazon. The pad has 4 out of 5 stars on Amazon and will charge device simultaneously. You can get it today on Amazon, unlike the AirPower charging pad.
