iPhone X Plus is rumored to have an 2688 x 1242 resolution display, with about 450 pixels per inch. The extra screen space allows for more information to be displayed in apps like Mail, Contacts, Calendar, and Stocks in landscape mode.
Apple seems to be allowing many newer devices to have landscape mode in native apps, taking advantage of the bigger displays. Allowing these features seems to point people back to Apple's native apps instead of people downloading alternative apps that have landscape mode.
