Earlier today, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple is planning to use a scissor mechanism rather than the current butterfly mechanism for its upcoming 16-inch MacBook Pro. Kuo believes that after the 16-inch MacBook Pro, future Macs will also swap over to a scissor mechanism, therefore having a more reliable keyboard.

Kuo says that the scissor mechanism that Apple will adopt will improve the typing experience by having longer key travel and better durability by implementing a glass fiber for reinforcement. The new scissor keyboard will be thicker than the butterfly keyboard as I stated in our Why Does Apple Insist On Keeping The Failing Butterfly Keyboard?
Will Apple finally lay the butterfly mechanism keyboard to rest? Apple has been using the butterfly mechanism since the 2015 MacBook and has even switched all new models to the keyboard. Why do you think Apple has insisted on keeping the keyboard for so long despite the problems? Do you think Apple was waiting on an improved scissor mechanism keyboard?
