Youtuber David Lee uploaded a video on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. He showed results from video editing using Adobe Premiere Pro. He claims that Core i7 model took 35 minutes and 22 seconds to render, while the Core i9 took 39 minutes and 37 seconds to render the same scene. In the video Dave Lee exclaims, "This MacBook can't even maintain the base clock speed. Forget about the Turbo and all that stuff, it can't even maintain the base clock of 2.9, which is absurd."
Apple Insider Performed their owned testing using Cinebanch 15. They ran it 10 times on the i9 MacBook. Their results show that both the i7 and i9 achieved very similar results, not showing the full capabilities of the i9.
Linus Tech Tips hosted a live stream on Youtube. In the stream they show-cased the MacBook Pro i9 from unboxing to thermal throttling.
So, the MacBook Pro with the Core i9 does thermal throttle, what can you do about it? Simple update your Mac. Apple released an update yesterday that fixes the throttling. They discovered that there was a missing digital key that caused the throttling. Apple has apologized to those affected.
